On board the bus
Here you can read about what you can take on the bus and what applies when you travel with our buses in public transport in Umeå.
Ticketing
We prefer that you buy your bus ticket before boarding. Then the journey goes faster. However, with the help of debit/credit cards, bus tickets can also be purchased on the buses.
For security reasons, you cannot pay with cash on board.
The bus card is a chip card that can be used many times and for all types of travel, single, discount or period. A card fee of SEK 25 is charged.
All buses have automatic reading of mobile tickets.
Bus cards and mobile tickets are shown to the card reader before boarding. You should do this even if you know that you are making a transfer and changing buses. A transfer is registered in the ticket machine but does not cost anything extra.
Travelling with a pram or assistive device
We have special seats in the bus designed for strollers and assistive devices.
Wifi
The buses are equipped with wireless internet so you can surf for free.
Baggage
You are allowed to bring hand luggage on the bus. Hand luggage includes things that you can carry yourself.
Bicycles are not allowed to be brought, and roller skates (inline skates) are not allowed to be worn on the bus. You must not bring large and bulky things.
Bulky includes, for example:
- Larger furniture such as beds and bookshelves
- Luggage that you need help moving
- Sharp or long objects – about 2 meters or longer
These rules exist for security reasons. Luggage must not block seats or be placed in such a way that aisles or exits are blocked, preventing a quick evacuation of the bus. Luggage can also cause accidents and injuries.
Kick-bike, electric scooter or folding bike
Means of transport that are folded and portable and are less than 120 cm when folded can be taken on the bus free of charge, subject to availability. You may store your foldable vehicle on the floor of the passenger compartment. Keep in mind that it must not take up a seat or be placed so that it blocks aisles or exits as this can prevent a quick evacuation of the bus.
Travelling with animals
- Pets such as dogs and cats travel for free when travelling by paying guests.
- It is allowed to bring a maximum of 2 animals/traveler.
- All animals must be kept on a leash or kept in an intended bag/cage and travel on the floor.
Smaller animals can be held on laps but must not be placed on a seat. - Passengers with animals must board through the middle door, where available. Exceptions for guide dogs, which are usually trained to enter through the front door.
- The animal may only be in the rear or upper part of the vehicle for the convenience of people who are allergic. Everyone can travel by public transport, so it can never be completely allergy-proof.
- Guide dogs and signal dogs travel with the passenger at any place in the vehicle.
- Anyone travelling with animals is responsible for its safety, and risks being rejected or denied boarding if the animal is deemed to be disturbing to other travellers or staff.
Spikes/Spikes
We do not allow the use of spikes/spikes on board our vehicles:
Spikes/spikes damage the floors of the buses. In the long term, it can lead to mould, as moisture risks penetrating the floors.
Cross-country/Slalom skis
It is allowed to bring cross-country skis and slalom skis on board Ultra's buses, provided that these are tied together or are in a ski case. The skis must not be loose so that they pose a risk of injury to other passengers.
Vehicle types in Umeå's public transport
The vehicles used in Umeå's local transport follow the EU directives that apply. The vehicles are mainly used in urban or suburban traffic at lower speeds. The low floor of these vehicles allows for a faster passenger flow and faster boarding.
The vehicles are designed for both standing and seating passengers and are therefore not equipped with seat belts. It is allowed, by law, to sit or stand in these types of vehicles without a seat belt.
