Accessibility is about the entire journey.

All buses have automatic stop announcements in the bus. The bus also has signs showing the name of the next stop and destination.

On the outside, there are loudspeakers that tell you the bus's route number and what destination the bus is at.

All buses are equipped with ramps that make it easier to get on and off for passengers with prams and for passengers with assistive devices.

Bus terminals Umeå University Hospital and Vasaplan - Umeå centrum

Stops Umeå University Hospital and Vasaplan are the two stops in Umeå with the most people getting on and off. The NUS terminal was rebuilt in 2012 and Vasaplan was rebuilt in 2017/2018.

Both of these terminals are equipped with:

• Curb height 17 cm, which makes it easier to get on and off.
• Pathways,
• weather protection;
• Benches
• tactile information boards,
• information boards with a reading function;
• slopes not exceeding 2% laterally and 5% longitudinally;
• Lighting for increased safety and traffic safety

Both terminals have ground heating, which means that the surfaces are free of snow and ice in winter.

Ultra stops

Since the early 2000s, Umeå municipality has worked to make the bus stops along the municipal road network accessible to everyone, and thus also to people with a disability.

Every year, stops have been fixed to meet the requirements set for people with disabilities to be able to travel by public transport.

The curb at the stop has a height of 17 cm to make it easier to get on and off for everyone, but mainly for those who have some type of mobility impairment.

The stops are equipped with guides to the entrance door of the bus. Stops with many boarders have weather protection with benches. The walkway to and from the bus stop has also been overhauled so that you can get to and from the bus in a good way.

In city traffic, lines 1 and 8 are fully accessible as Vasaplan is completed. On the other lines, 90-95% are adapted for people with disabilities.
