Travelling with children
Good to know before you travel with children.
Child ticket or youth ticket
From the date you turn 7 years old until you turn 20 years old, you buy a child ticket. From the date you turn 20 until you turn 26, you buy a youth ticket.
Please see related information below regarding our fare rules and fares.
Travelling with children
Two children under the age of 7 travel for free with a paying companion . Children under the age of 7 travelling (without a paying companion) redeem a child ticket. For children in a group, for example a preschool group, everyone buys a ticket. Children under the age of 7 are not allowed to travel for free with a traveler who has a school card.
Unaccompanied minors
The on-board staff is not responsible for underage travelers. Children travelling without a paying companion must be able to handle boarding and disembarking, luggage, any transfers and traffic disruptions. Therefore, we recommend that children under the age of 6 do not travel alone.
Travelling with a pram
A pram may be brought by the traveller free of charge, subject to availability. For safety reasons, the stroller must not be stored in the passenger compartment of the bus, but must be folded and placed in the luggage compartment. This applies to normal-floor buses and double-decker buses in regional traffic.
On board low-entry regional buses that are on routes 118, 120, 122, 123, 124 and 125 and may occur on routes 114 and 115, the stroller may be stored in the passenger compartment of the bus.
The difference is due to the fact that low-entry buses are used in public transport for short and fast commuting journeys where travel needs to be done in an efficient and simple way. The stroller must be placed in the designated place. This is the same place where wheelchairs should be placed. Wheelchairs always have the right of way.
Car seat
Länstrafiken in Västerbotten does not have its own vehicle fleet, but all traffic is carried out by procured transport companies. It is the guardian's/parent's responsibility to provide a car seat and seat cushion.
On lines 12, 20, 43, 45, 63 and 100, the buses are equipped with SitSafe, which is a child seat integrated with the vehicle's other seats and can be used by children up to 18 kg. There are two integrated child seats in each bus.
These seats are not bookable, which means that there is no guarantee that the seat will be available when you get to the bus. SitSafe is only available on regular buses, which means that if a vehicle is replaced, these seats are not available.
