FAQ New bus cards
We need new bus cards as we update the ticket and payment system. It is a ticket collaboration with the four northernmost counties for seamless travel. The bus cards that are available now are old and do not work in the new system. This applies to both regional traffic and Ultra.
No, you have several weeks to use your trips on the old card. It works until May 18th. If you don’t manage to do it, we will help you.
Different options to get a new card:
- Use your trips on the old card no later than May 18th. When you then visit a staffed bus station or Reseinfo (Umeå) and want to top up, you will receive the trips on a new card.
- Order a new bus card in our new online service My pages on Tabussen.nu which you then top up yourself via the service when you receive the card.
- If it feels complicated or difficult, contact us on +46 771-100 110 and we will help you.
- Our sales points in Umeå will also be able to sell trips on the new cards a little later.

Use our new online service My pages on Tabussen.nu. There you can order a new bus card to your home address and then when you get it home you can top up with new trips. Remember to plan ahead as it may take up to 10 days for the card to be delivered.
When you then purchase tickets for the card, they are available immediately, unlike how it was in our old webshop. In our apps, you can also buy punch and period tickets in addition to single tickets.
The new payment system is not yet fully installed on the buses. It needs to be done in a certain order.
With the new cards, we will return to the longer activation and validity periods again. Same as in the apps with 180 days of activation from the date of purchase and 365 days of validity from the first trip.

With your trips in the app, you also get traffic information, both in general and about your specific trip. You can also see the location of the bus on the map in real time. The app also always has updates departure and arrival times. You also get a faster overview of how many trips/days you have left and how long they are valid.
Using an app is also a more environmentally friendly alternative as the bus cards mean a higher burden on the environment.
You don't have to. Feel free to use the app. The bus cards are available for those who prefer to tap a physical card instead or maybe don't have a smartphone.
The new cards have two layouts, one for regional traffic and one for Ultra. You can still purchase whatever you want on each card. The new cards are part of the same system as our apps.
