Linje 251 kan för tillfället inte trafikera hållplatser Malånäs, Stensund, vsk Avaås, Tjärnbergsbränna, Kedjeheden, vsk Adakliden. Linjen trafikerar annan väg mellan Malå och Adak pga avstängd väg. New app and expanded ticketing collaboration

Seamless travel in Norrland.

Now exciting things are happening linked to the public transport ticket and payment system in Norrland. Länstrafiken Västerbotten, together with five other actors, will adapt the current ticket systems to a new national standard for public transport. The goal is more seamless travel.

From Monday 1 July 2024, it is no longer possible to load travel funds on board the bus or in the webshop. You can still buy tickets with the remaining travel funds until autumn/winter.

The school portal will not be launched until the start of the autumn term, but we will continue with the previous system for a while longer.

2024-05-31 The old apps stop working

From May 31, the old apps will no longer work. If you have trips left in the app, they will be refunded automatically no later than June 10.

The much-discussed activation and validity periods

Our temporarily changed activation and validity times on tickets will change back when we transition to the new ticket system. In the upcoming new apps, it changes back first.

They change back to:

Discounted tickets: 180 days activation period and 12 months validity
Period tickets: 180 days activation time and valid for the number of days you purchased
Flex 10/30 (Ultra): 180 days activation time and 30 days validity
Single ticket regional traffic: 180 days activation period and validity of one journey
Single ticket Ultra: 180 days activation time and one hour validity (with the possibility of exchanges).

The reason why we are shortening the times during the transition is that we do not want to risk that our passengers will still have journeys in the old system when we enter the new system. The tickets cannot be transferred to the new system.

First out is the new travel app for both regional traffic (Tabussen.nu) and Ultra, local transport in Umeå that will be launched in stages in 2024. More information about each part will be published on this page later.

Soon the travel fund will end

In the upgraded ticket system, travel funds will no longer be available, and therefore we will gradually phase out travel funds.

Empty your travel funds
From May 2, 2023, it will be possible to load your travel fund with any amount of SEK between SEK 1 – 300. The purpose of the optional amount limit is to enable you to empty your travel funds by loading with the number of kronor remaining for, for example, a single ticket. When you have raised your travel funds, save the card, but do not top it up with travel funds again, but use other options instead. You can save the card if you do not want your trips in the new app, but instead want to exchange it for a new one when the card is changed in 2024.

After we launch our new apps, we will completely turn off the ability to top up travel funds. Therefore, it is important that you use it up now.

Ticket adjustment from April 1 in Skellefteå

As part of the developed public transport in Skellefteå municipality and the expanded ticket collaboration in Norrland, we need to make a ticket adjustment between regional and local transport in Skellefteå. The adjustment related to the zone change will have an impact on ticket systems on 1 April 2023.

We change the activation and validity times of our tickets

To facilitate the transition to the upgraded ticket and payment system, we will change the activation and validity times of our tickets from March 1, 2023.
The activation time is the time you have from the time you buy a ticket until you have to make your first trip on the ticket.
The validity period is the time you have to raise your tickets from the time the first trip is made.

Activation/validity periods from 1 March 2023:
Applies to both regional traffic and Ultra

One-way ticket

  • Activation time: 6 months
  • Validity period: 1 trip (transition within Ultra applies)

Activation time: 30 days
Validity period: 1 trip (transition within Ultra applies)

In connection with changes to activation and validity periods, you as a passenger will no longer be able to top up any number of discount card trips. From 1 March 2023, you can top up 6 or 10 trips.

The app will be easy to use and will contain several features that make it easier for you as a traveller. Here are some examples of features in the new app:

In the long term, we will have to replace the current bus cards. To avoid having to change your card, our tip is that you start using our new app when it is launched. If you are not able to use the new app, you will have plenty of time to use your purchased trips and switch to a new card.
